GeoLiath Postcode Geocoding API

Welcome

What Is The Shoothill Postcode API?

The Shoothill Postcode Geocoding API is a free service made available to web developers who have a need to turn GB Postcodes into locations. For instance, you may be developing a web application that needs to show postcodes as pins on a map, or you may need to find a postcodes location in order to find a users nearest store.

Features

  • Uses Ordnance Survey Code-Point® Open for highly accurate data.

  • Locations provided in high accuracy WGS84 coordinates for ease of use with popular mapping APIs.

  • Free for personal, educational, charitable, organisational or commercial use.

  • Premium option for heavy users, or those with minimum service level requirements.

Notes

  • The free version of the API is currently limited to 120 requests per API Key per hour in order to reduce server load, which in turn keeps the service free and available to all users. For further information please see API Limitations in the Documentation.

  • This service is in the beta stage of development. This means that we make no promises about availability or accuracy of the service, as it is still undergoing changes and improvements.

  • We reserve the right to make changes to the service as and when we need to. We will publish details of these changes on the Shoothill website in advance where possible.
